Weekend in Boston, MA
I just needed a little getawayโฆ
I decided to dash away to Boston for the weekend in the middle of the week, while I was on a work zoom call in my bed. I almost never work from my bed, that was the dead giveaway that I needed a getaway.
I rallied a friend to meet me there, we didnโt have a clear plan for how the day would go. We ended up going vintage shopping where I found a framed drawing and poem by Pablo Neruda writer in French. I had no idea who he was until my friend explained. He was a Latin poet. The vintage shop owner says it was received from an art criticโs house. Fancy!
We ate the most deliciously buttery ramen in Bostonโs Chinatown, then drank wine at Barcelona wine bar (I always love the wine there, but hate the food) We told animated stories about the pieces of our lives that were coming undone, and coming together.
I went to my hotel (Iโve had an unused credit since I came down with COVID in November) and stayed at a cool retro hotel called The Verb with a heated outdoor pool and a Japanese restaurant. In my room I had a small bottle of champagne, a cocktail from the restaurant bar and a pistachio croissant from Tatte Bakery and watched cartoons until I fell asleep.
