French Pressed

Curating a home décor shop is…

To put it lightly, a labor of love, humbling, joyful. There are moments where I don’t know if I’m doing enough or doing too much. Seeing my ideas come to life is rewarding, gaining a better understanding of an artisan’s craft is enlightening.

This week I got peeks at mugs that are in production for the shop from the lovely and talented ceramicist Emilie. I revere classic blue and white, and ordered two different style mugs, the first is photographed here. The look is a bit French Classical and makes my mind wander to lemon pancakes, fresh sweet berries and French pressed coffee. At first sight, it’s whimsical and charming something like a dewy morning and a damp and sunny day. I think I’ll name it Jules.

There are so many little things you have to think about like packaging design, being sensible and not overdoing it but also not underdoing it. I’m learning and leaning toward a plain white box with 47th x Ashley tape. What do you think?
