Townhouse Kitchen Revamp | Capitol Heights, MD
This kitchen project was the lovechild of a night of champagne (Moet probably) and one of my best friends. At the time, she and her fiancé planned on moving to Atlanta for an extended period of time, just for a change of pace, and turning their townhome into a rental. The goal was to give the kitchen a fresh start while being neutral enough for a renter to visualize themselves in the space. The end became a kitchen they loved too much to leave.
The more we made changes, the more the couple fell in love with their space and wanted to increase the scope of their project. We moved on to the living room (photos to follow) and additional plans for the kitchen (coming soon!).
I decided to accent the kitchen with a soft rug with a worn-in feel with pops of pink, yellow and blues. A farm style kitchen table is due to anchor the space which I’m excited to see beneath the new drop light fixture.
This kitchen was my first big project and though it’s something I’ve never done before, the trust that I was given by the couple made making scary choices like two-toned kitchen cabinets made turned risk to reward. There were moments of pure excitement like the moment I found the herringbone backsplash, I snapped up every box I could to prevent anyone else from having it. Seeing my clients faces when they talked about how much they loved their new kitchen, feeling like they were in a completely new home gave me much needed confidence to trust my gut and face risks head on. What do you think of the new kitchen? What is your favorite part? Hopefully you love it as much as I do!
